Working with Intention
The most important and meaningful thing about me is that I'm a dad to three amazing kids - George (6), Harry (4) and Josephine (2) and husband to my incredible wife Nikki. Without her support this site and new adventure doesn't happen. We recently relocated to Boston, MA and are thrilled to be surrounded by friends and family. It was a major change and one the entire family is embracing. So far we're loving it!
I've only worked for two companies in my professional life, and I'm incredibly grateful for experiences and a background each has allowed for. At the onset of the great recession (2006) my career started in the Big 4 accounting world working for EY's Financial Services Office. After six years, logging many hours and earning my CPA designation, it was time to transition to the wealth management space. From there I spent the last nine years helping grow and lead an independent RIA from $150 million to over $800 million in assets under management. It was during this time that I fell in love with the business of an independent wealth management firm and helping lead clients to successful financial outcomes. Whether it was working with a client negotiating benefits at a new job, helping lead a client through the difficulties of a recent divorce, or just being there to talk and stay positive during the low points of Covid last year - the connection you build collaborating with clients through their financial lives is meaningful work. It's a wonderful business to be in full of experiences helping people you care about. What's better than that?
Before all of this, I spent five years at Bentley University, earning my undergrad degree in Finance and staying for a fifth year to earn a Masters in Financial Planning and Taxation. In between I had a ton of fun with friends, managed to learn about finance & life and played four years of varsity lacrosse.
I'll leave you with this quote I recently came across. While it's new to me, the meaning and spirit of it has had a tremendous impact on my life and what lies ahead. It's from Charles Darwin & it reads:
"In the long history of humankind, those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed."
